Baby taken from loving family
A young couple from Sacramento have a son named Sammy. Sammy had flu symptoms so they, like any terrified new parent, brought him to the hospital. The hospital found that Sammy had a heart murmur and decided that the baby needed heart surgery right away. The mother of the child wanted a second opinion so she and her husband took their baby to a second hospital where a doctor said that the baby was doing well and they didn't need to worry at the moment. the baby was healthy and happy and well taken care of. Later that day the police, acting upon orders from CPS, entered the home (without a warrant) and took their baby away from them. The baby boy is now in a hospital and can only be seen by the parents for an hour a day. The parents did nothing wrong and it is still unclear as to why this happened. To see an interview with the parents and to learn more about this topic, click here.

Massachusetts bombing
The Boston Marathon was terrorized by two bombs on April the fifteenth, killing three and wounding over one hundred. At that moment a great search began. A search for the one responsible for this crime. The search didn't last long as within the next two days they found at least two of the bombers. Two young brothers, age 19 and 26, are from the Russian state Chechnya. The older brother was shot and killed. The younger is said to be surrounded and close the capture. The FBI also pulled a third man from the public, but nothing is known of him. The real questions now are are there more? will this happen again? And are we safe? Much of Boston is in shut down and most everyone has been asked to stay inside of their homes and not to open the door to anyone but verified police and FBI agents. Shark attack in New Zealand
On a popular beach in New Zealand a man was viciously attacked on February 27. The man, in his 40s, was attacked by a great white shark. The shark was said to have been joined by two others and wouldn't leave the poor man's body until the shark was shot at. This occurrence is thought to be odd seeing as how there have been less than 20 known shark attacks in the past 175 years.

The Oscar pistorius case
Oscar pistorius, the well loved Olympic sprinter and double amputee, has been charged with first degree murder. He has shot and killed his girl friend. Pistorius claims to have thought he heard a burglar and shot through the bathroom door, not thinking that it could be his girl friend. Pistorius was released on bail earlier last week, a very rare thing to see. (getting released on bail when charged with first degree murder that is)

The stranded cruise ship
The carnival cruise ship, the Triumph, left land thinking about the enjoyable days to come. After a wonderful four day trip, they were sailing home. On sunday, the engine broke down cutting off all electricity and setting the boat adrift. Bathrooms stopped working. The smell of raw sewage wash unbearable. many people moved their mattresses out to the dock because they couldn't breathe. They ran out of food and had to wait in three hour lines to get onion sandwiches. People went insane. After five days in this condition they were finally pulled back to the United States.
The owners of the cruise ship has given every person $500, and a free ticket for a cruise in the future (many people hated the free ticket, never wanting to go on a cruise ever again.)

Obama's state of the Union speech
Last night, President Barack Obama gave a speech on the state of the Union.
One of the first issues he addressed was the national debt. A back up plan formed years ago stated that if the national debt grew to a certain amount (which it did) and both parties couldn't decide on a way to fix the problem, automatically three trillion dollars worth of budget cuts would be made. These budget cuts would effect our military, our education system, and our scientific research. President Obama said that both parties agreed that it would be the wrong idea to let these budget cuts happen. "[We can't] cut our way to zero debt". So the President has decided to raise taxes for the rich 1% and the rich elderly.
But, he said, "deficit reduction alone is not an economic plan", there was a great need for more jobs. He announced that three new 3D printing buildings would be built. And the goal is to get fifteen into place. Obama said that the "next revolution in technology should be in America.
Most children can't afford to go to a private preschool, and so he is going to put public preschools into place and make it a requirement. He is also hoping to redesign public high schools so that they truly equip kids for the future.
A family with two children living off of minimum wage is living under the poverty line. This is wrong, and so the new minimum wage is nine dollars an hour. We are the wealthiest country on earth (according to Obama) so we are raising the income.
They will be better equipping the nations cyber defense system to prevent hackers.
They will we working to improve the voting experience. It's a human right to vote, and with five hour waiting line, that right is often taken from us which is wrong.
Finally, there will be a vote for or against gun rights.

Boy Scouts of America: The homosexuality debate
The Boy scouts of America has encountered a problem. A few months ago, a boy scout named Ryan completed the requirements for his eagle award, but his leader refused to sign off on the paper due to the fact that the boy was gay. (To read more about Ryan, click here)
The leaders of the Boy Scouts of America came together to debate whether or not to allow boy scout members to be homosexuals. Some were against the idea because it was against Christian morals. Others believed that a guy was a guy, no matter what his sexual orientation was.
The vote was supposed to come back in the beginning of February, but has been put off until May.

Yet another shooting
Hadiya Pendleton, 15, sang at President Obamas inauguration last week, and this week has been shot and killed. No one thinks that she was the target, and no one knows who the shooter is. Also a friend, who was 16, was injured. This will, no doubt, be used in the fight to enforce and create laws against guns. To read more about Hadiya, click here.

Christianity attack!
Joel Is an author, who is very, VERY against Christianity. He wrote a response to a book titled "Ten Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe" which was written by a pastor, In which Joel attacks Christianity with ten points.

- A mistranslated book written by cave people is a reliable guide to the modern world.
- There’s an invisible man in the sky who likes to watch you while you’re showering.
- Two thousand years ago, an alter ego of this invisible man knocked up a Jewess whose husband wasn’t satisfying her.
- The progeny of this drunken coupling was both god and the son of god.
- This son of god was killed (but not really, since he’s also god, and god can’t die) and then came back to life to seek revenge, just like J.D. Walker.
- His killing was a necessary sacrifice in order that we might be forgiven for the sins of Eve, the first woman in the world, who lived 6000 years ago in a magical garden, where a talking snake convinced her to eat a forbidden apple.
- To show our thanks for this sacrifice, we should put special crackers and wine in our mouths, where they will be magically transformed into his flesh and blood, which we should then swallow despite taboos regarding cannibalism.
- If you don’t believe all the preceding items, then after you die you will be plunged into a lake of fire and tortured for all eternity.
- If you do believe all the preceding items, then after you die you’ll get to go to heaven, which is a cloud in outer space connected to the earth with a dotted line bent into a heart-shape
- Thomas Kinkade is an awesome painter

Obama 08-16
After a hard election season, Obama has won. He will continue to be the President of America for the next four years. For any in despair over this news, think of it like this: Obama will never be able to run again after this term. For those rejoicing in this fact, good for you!
We'll have to wait and see what the next four years have in store for us.

prep for the presidential debate
Many people probably assume that Obama and Romney Pick out their suits, and eat a nice dinner before getting up to the podium for a debate. Well, they're wrong. Their suits and ties are picked out long before hand, their food is chosen, and even their wife's clothes are picked out. They go through mock debates with different people, and Romney was even coached on how to sit on his stool. Months and months of hard work practicing and running debates are what make these battles happen.

2nd Presidential debate
The second Presidential debate was feisty. Many times, Romney and Obama were yelling over one another. Both of them fought the moderator for more time, even though they were keeping to a certain time limit. The Moderator, Candy Crowley, was the first Woman to ever be a presidential debate moderator. She handled it quite well in the beginning, but by the middle she was in the triangle of never ending shouting. Both the Republicans and the Democrats were happy with this debate, and there was no obvious winner.

A planet made of Diamonds
55 Cancri e, is indeed covered with graphite and diamond. This planet revolves around a star in the constellation 'cancer'. It all seems a bit Doctor Who, doesn't it? (Midnight, anyone?) Well, its real, and 40 light years away. It's year is precisely 18 hours, and its temperature sits closely around 3, 900 Fahrenheit. And we think OUR summers are hot!

wheat weight
Dr. William Davis, a cardiologist, published a book about what he calls "Perfect, Chronic Poison", in other words, modern Wheat.
"It's an 18-inch tall plant created by genetic research in the '60s and '70s, This thing has many new features nobody told you about, such as there's a new protein in this thing called gliadin. It's not gluten. I'm not addressing people with gluten sensitivities and celiac disease. I'm talking about everybody else because everybody else is susceptible to the gliadin protein that is an opiate. This thing binds into the opiate receptors in your brain and in most people stimulates appetite, such that we consume 440 more calories per day, 365 days per year." says Dr. Davis.
Now, that was a lot of words, and you may be wondering "who cares?!" well lets just see what Dr. Davis has to say about that, shall we?
"If three people lost eight pounds, big deal, But we're seeing hundreds of thousands of people losing 30, 80, 150 pounds. Diabetics become no longer diabetic; people with arthritis having dramatic relief. People losing leg swelling, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, and on and on every day."
As you can see, this modern day wheat is certainly a big deal.

Anti- Islam guy arrested
Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the man behind the anti- Islam film- "Innocence of Muslims", was arrested from his home in LA. Many people are worried about his safety, how ever, and most likely the safety of any place that held him as well. His lawyer uses this point to argue for a $10,000 dollar bail. It is assumed that nothing has been decided though.
